Description

The English doctor and researcher Edward Bach was convinced that every illness was the result of an emotional imbalance. Since there are 38 basic emotions, he looked for plants and flowers that could bring these into balance again.

Edward Bach declared his simple system complete in the 1930s.

The popularity of the Original Bach® Flowers has grown continuously since then. Today, millions of people in many countries trust the essences.

What are the Bach® Flowers?

Of the 38 Bach® Flowers, 37 are single wild flowers or tree blossoms. The exception is Rock Water, which is prepared from natural spring water.

What is Edward Bach's philosophy?

The Bach® Flowers were discovered by the renowned researcher and bacteriologist Edward Bach (1886-1936), who was a practising doctor in London in his time. By intuitive means, he discovered that the oscillating energy of specific flowers had a vitalising effect on the mental and emotional state of people. For this reason, Bach dedicated the last stage of his life to the search for botanical "energy substances" to relieve emotional problems.

Over years of trial and error, using solar and boiling methods, he succeeded in harnessing the inherent energy of plants, which reaches a peak when these are in bloom. Using these two production processes, Bach created a system of 38 floral essences, which can be used to treat seven groups of specific emotional disturbances:

  • Fearfulness
  • Loneliness
  • Insufficient interest in present circumstances
  • Despondency or despair
  • Over-sensitivity to influences and ideas
  • Over-care for welfare of others
  • Uncertainty

Edward Bach designed his system to be simple and easily comprehensible.

He wanted to enable people from all social classes to help themselves. According to the principle of "Treat the patient, not the disease".

How do the Bach® Flowers help?

Like other forms of natural medicine, the flowers' properties become effective through the treatment of the patient as an individual. They can have a specific effect on the emotional state of the person concerned. This also explains why two people with the same state of mind use different flowers. One person may have come to terms with their situation, while the other reacts with impatience. So both these cases also require different flowers. The use of Bach® Flowers should not serve to suppress negative attitudes, but on the contrary, to replace them with positive ones. In this way, one's own potential for self-healing is encouraged as the body's own powers are unlocked. A physical complaint does not, however, need to exist to benefit from the Bach® Flowers. Many of us experience difficult phases or inexplicable fatigue, which can develop into a negative attitude. It is at these points that the Bach® Flowers make an immensely valuable contribution by restoring inner balance before physical symptoms appear.

How can I recognise the original?

Judy Ramsell Howard, Managing Director of the Bach Centre (Oxfordshire, England), vouches for the traditionally high quality of the Original Bach® Flowers: Only by using the Original Bach® Flowers do you have the security of applying the Bach® Flowers produced exactly according to Edward Bach's knowledge. You can recognise the genuine essences by the curved lettering of the "Bach" logo and the sales imprint: Hänseler AG, CH-9101 Herisau (valid for Switzerland). Please note that products with the description "produced according to the methods of Dr Bach" are not Original Bach® Flowers.
