Solmucol Cold is used to treat various types of colds. It is intended for use in the nose, where it constricts the blood vessels and thus causes the mucous membrane in the nose and the neighbouring area of the throat to decongest. This allows you to breathe more freely through your nose when you have a cold.

The effect sets in within a few minutes and lasts for up to 10 hours.

The effectiveness of Solmucol Cold is comparable to that of a solution with twice the concentration of active ingredient but without hyaluronic acid.

The galenic formulation of Solmucol Cold with hyaluronic acid prevents the nasal mucosa from drying out.

Solmucol Cold must not be used for longer than 1 week, as prolonged use can lead to permanent damage to the mucous membrane ("rhinitis medicamentosa").
