Brown wild millet is the original millet and has a very high content of minerals and trace elements. In contrast to golden millet, brown millet cannot be hulled or cooked until soft and can therefore only be processed when ground. Millet belongs to the oat family of grasses and was originally native to the East Indies. However, it has been cultivated in Northern Europe since pre-Christian times and is one of our oldest cultivated plants. Millet is a gluten-free grain and can make an important contribution to the diet of gluten-sensitised people.
