Medihoney dressings protect the wound by forming a barrier against pathogens in the wound, including antibiotic-resistant strains, thus reducing the risk of infection. The high osmotic potential of the dressing initially encourages exudate formation, flushing bacteria, endotoxins, debris and necrotic tissue from the wound and rapidly eliminating odour. This material is then encapsulated in an antibacterial matrix that allows for easy dressing changes.

The result is a clean wound, reducing inflammation, odour and exudation. By creating the optimum healing environment, granulation and epithelialisation are promoted.
