Ektoselen is a medicinal shampoo that contains selenium disulphide and washed sulphur as active ingredients in addition to detergent substances.

Ektoselen is used to treat dandruff from various causes.

Selenium and sulphur complement each other in their effect. Selenium disulphide combats the cause of dandruff by normalising the disturbed processes of keratinisation and sebum secretion of the scalp. Selenium disulphide also inhibits the growth of bacteria associated with excessive dandruff and combats fungal infestation.

The washed sulphur contained in Ektoselen is present in a very finely dispersed form. It removes dandruff and sebum, inhibits bacterial growth and soothes itching.

On the recommendation of a pharmacist or on a doctor's prescription, Ektoselen can also be used to treat the following skin conditions in addition to dandruff:

Eczema of the scalp (dermatitis seborrhoica),

Psoriasis of the scalp (psoriasis capitis),

Pityriasis versicolor.
