Cobantril is an anthelmintic. The parasites that are sensitive to cobantril are paralysed and then excreted in the faeces. It is very easy to administer in a single dose.

Cobantril is used in adults and children suffering from pinworm infestation. Infections caused by other worms (roundworms, hookworms, so-called "stomach worms") require medical diagnosis and treatment.

As pinworms are easily transmitted, it is quite possible that other family members may also be infected without being recognised. Under these circumstances, it is advisable to treat all members of a family or group of people.
