Ingredients

Properties

For diet management in patients with increased glutamine, arginine and beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) requirements who need to build lean body mass. Building lean body mass can help support wound healing. Abound is a beverage powder for drinking or tube feeding with arginine, glutamine and HMB.

Directions

drink 2 sachets per day in addition to your daily diet. Mix the contents with 250 ml juice.

Tube feeding:

• Do not mix Abound with other enteral preparations in a tube feeding bag.
• Pour one sachet of Abound into a suitable container and add water (125 ml) at room temperature.
• Mix well until completely dissolved.
• Check the correct positioning when feeding the probe.
• Before giving Abound, add 30 ml of water via the stomach tube.
• Administer Abound via the gastric tube using a 60 ml or larger syringe.
• After administering Abound, rinse with another 30 ml of water (a smaller amount of water can be used to rinse the tube if the patient is on a restricted liquid diet).
